Homeland Security-Emergency Management (HSM)

Introduces the history and organizational development of the US Department of Homeland Security. Examines the roles and functions of the components of Homeland Security and their relationships to state and local agencies. Investigates current trends and career opportunities in homeland security. Introduces the field of emergency management and the incident command system, including the terminology and definitions used in emergency and disaster management. Examines four phases of emergency management and disaster planning: mitigation, response, recovery, and preparedness.
